A themed kids party is always fun to incorporate into birthdays or milestones. Here are some crafty ways to dress kids for a Wizard of Oz themed costume party. All brought to you by Adeina from Creative Lifestyle by Adeina.
Here are some behind the scene shots from SA Live show on Tuesday Oct 10th.
These shoes were only a few dollars and all you need is glue and glitter to make them Dorothy style for the Wizard of Oz themed kids party.
The Dorothy shirt is simply ribbon/material glued on a plan white shirt and glue on white buttons.
The tulle skirt is simple strips of tulle cut and tied to a ribbon. Make sure to add a lot to give it good volume.
This same idea was used for Glenda the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz themed kids party with a tulle skirt and starts in a tshirt.
Here is an easy Tin Man hat with just a head band and small funnel hot glued on the side and glittered up. And for his tin-like armor a few small circles on a grey tshirt will do.
Behind the scenes with Adeina was so fun on the SA Live show. My kids were surprisingly good and had a blast. They raved about being on TV for the rest of the day.
My oldest son is 15. I was only married a year when we had decided that we wanted to try to get pregnant. I was just barely 21. When I look back and think about that season of my life I realize I was still a very immature young adult.
Sure I was married. I was holding a job down and I was in school to be a veterinary assistant. But I knew nothing of what being a mother really meant. I only knew that was the next logical step in my marriage. (Despite the fact that I was partying like it was 1999. Oh wait! It was 1999.)
And just to note my best friend was pregnant as well-I was always following the crowd.
But the sweet babe that grew in my belly was no mistake. I had no regret. All of my children were very much wanted.
We have grown up together, Larry (not his real name in case your wondering) and me. There have been times in his childhood that I truly couldn’t wait for him to grow out of. And he shares with me that he really despised me at times-he says couldn’t stand me.
Today our relationship is much different. I spend time teaching him life skills and providing opportunities for him to be a man (or tying to at least). And God provides opportunities as well. Like killing snakes and helping with dinner and compromising on what movie to watch.
So to my to my oldest son while you’re away at summer camp this is my letter to you.
Don’t worry about me this week. Have fun making new friends. Enjoy the time away from your siblings and know that we love you.
I hope those drill sergeants don’t work you too much. But I do hope they work you hard. Being pushed to become better will help you to actually achieve more than you thought you could.
Strive to be a leader and to take correction well. Learn to keep your head up, mouth closed and help your team.
Do man pushups.
The Bible is a guide for you in this life. Don’t take it lightly. Store the scriptures up in your heart, mind and spirit. As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.
Don’t play into influences and be kind to others.
I love you son. I am proud of the man God is molding you to be. Follow Christ. Keep your eyes on him and don’t be swayed by the gold and glitter of this world.
Keep your mind and body pure. I am praying for your wife. And God is creating her perfect for you right now. Be a blessing to your marriage now, as you will be a leader in it then.
Your father loves you. Even though he isn’t able to tell you that regularly, he does. And he is proud of you.
And when you come home from summer camp…do the dishes, take out the trash and watch your siblings. Cuz Mama needs a night to herself.
Glad your home son!
Do you have a good relationship with your oldest child?
